HYPERPORT
HYPERPORT is a low-latency, point-to-point audio protocol for connecting a transform.engine directly to a compatible DiGiCo interface.
If you are setting up transform.engine for the first time, begin with the HYPERPORT Quickstart.
Compatibility
Supported Hardware
- transform.engine
- DiGiCo consoles with the following I/O:
- Onboard Dante
- Fourier Interface Card
- DiGiCo DMI 64@96 cards manufactured from March 2023 onwards
- DiGiCo Orange Box with the following I/O:
- DiGiCo DMI 64@96 cards manufactured from March 2023 onwards
Unsupported Hardware
- DiGiCo DMI 64@96 cards manufactured before March 2023
- Other Dante products
DMI 64@96 cards manufactured from March 2023 onwards use the IP Zynq HC
module.
A compatible card will have either of the following:
- The Dante module is mounted on a black PCB.
- The card name in Dante Controller has a
zsuffix, such asDMI-Dante64@96z.
Earlier cards use the Dante Summit HC module, have a green module PCB,
and do not show the z suffix in Dante Controller. These earlier cards are not
compatible with HYPERPORT.
Software Version
HYPERPORT requires transform.client and transform.engine software v1.7.0 or newer. Check both versions under System > Support & Software and follow the upgrade instructions if needed. An older engine can accept a connection from a newer client without supporting HYPERPORT.
DiGiCo Version Compatibility Grid
The DiGiCo console and audio interface must also be running software that supports HYPERPORT. The grid below is an overview of compatible versions.
| DiGiCo hardware / audio interface | Minimum console software | Minimum interface software | Support and downloads |
|---|---|---|---|
| Console with onboard Dante | TBC | TBC | Console software downloads |
| Console with Fourier Interface Card | TBC | TBC | DiGiCo support |
Console with Dante DMI 64@96 (March 2023 onwards, IP Zynq HC / z suffix) | TBC | TBC | DMI card support |
Orange Box with Dante DMI 64@96 (March 2023 onwards, IP Zynq HC / z suffix) | TBC, if used with a console | TBC | DiGiCo support / DMI card support |
Use the DiGiCo support portal for software requirements and update instructions for your interface.
Connection Requirements
- Connect transform.engine primary port and the console's primary audio port point to point.
- Any control must occur via the control port. HYPERPORT does not carry control data on the Primary or Secondary ports.
| Interface | Dante | HYPERPORT |
|---|---|---|
| Primary | ✓ Primary audio ✓ Control | ✓ Point-to-point audio X Control |
| Secondary | ✓ Redundant audio ✓ Control | X Audio X Control |
| Control | X Audio ✓ Control | X Audio ✓ Control |
Latency
At 96 kHz with a 32-sample period, HYPERPORT has a headline round-trip latency of 1.22 ms on supported hardware. Increasing the period size gives plugins more processing time, but also increases latency. See Roundtrip Latency.
Considerations
- The transform.engine's sample rate is automatically detected from the connected HYPERPORT stream.
- The console interface must be running compatible software for a HYPERPORT connection.
- transform.engine cannot be clock leader to an interface while in HYPERPORT mode.
- Dante devices will not remain available through a port or card that is operating in HYPERPORT mode.
- HYPERPORT cannot operate via a switch
Troubleshooting
If HYPERPORT is not working:
- Check that both transform.client and transform.engine are running v1.7.0 or newer and that the console or interface meets the compatibility requirements.
- Check that the Primary port is connected directly to the console or interface, without a network switch. Connect transform.client through the Control port.
- Under System > System Status, check that HYPERPORT is selected and the period size is 32, 64 or 128 samples. Enter Offline Mode before changing either setting, then return to Edit Mode and wait for the audio engine to start.
- If the problem remains, reproduce it and download the logs and contact support. Downloading engine logs requires stopping audio.
